Shalita Jones

Home Shalita Jones

Shalita Jones is a native Washingtonian and graduate of Dunbar HS and Trinity University where she received a BA in Communications with a concentration in International Studies and Political Science. During her career at the U.S. Department of State as a Senior Program Officer she planned and managed educational and cultural exchange programs and enjoyed the unique opportunity to interact with thousands of American and foreign high-school and university students, young professionals, and elected and appointed officials from all over the world.

She collaborated with U.S. federal and state agencies and foreign governments to establish program policies and guidelines, and supervised grants to private organizations and academic institutions to perform program activities and administrative requirements. During her early government career, she served as editorial assistant for The English Teaching Forum, an English teaching magazine which supported foreign teachers of English as a foreign or second language in their home countries.

Throughout her career she had the privilege to travel to many countries and has thus developed a love for traveling. After early retirement, she received her Certification for Teaching English (TESOL/TESL/TEFL) and spent time in Taiwan teaching K-12.

Shalita loves her Church and has volunteered in several ministries over the years and through much study and guidance earned a Certificate for Lay Teaching and Lay Leadership. With a heart to serve it is an honor to contribute to the worthy cause of Gateway Boarding Academy.
